COURSE OVERVIEW

African Politics offers a world class introduction to the continent’s political history and present. The course covers Africa’s political philosophies, political formations, and governance during the pre-colonial period, colonial rule, and after independence. Throughout the course, students will examine the features and foundations of African political thought, learning the ideologies and practice of individual and institutional political actors. The course also covers indigenous theories of power, governance, and conflict
